I’m Wendy John, a journalist and film producer in Sydney Australia.

As a journalist I have two strings to my bow - I'm a weather presenter on Sky News Weather (Channel 601) and I also freelance report on digital health and healthcare politics for Health Services Daily.

 

As former Deputy Editor of Health Services Daily I was host/producer of The Medical Republic podcast and live webinars. 

 

My cross platform journalism has been broadcast and published widely, including on SBS, ABC News, Sydney Morning Herald, The Courier Mail and The Wire national current affairs program. I’ve won Ossie Awards for current affairs journalism and was winner of Nova Entertainment’s national podcasting competition, PodQuest.

 

Journalism is my second career. I went back to university when I was pregnant and slowly chipped away at a Master of Advanced Journalism at UTS graduating in 2020 (nailed it).

 

As an emerging filmmaker, I created YesAndFilms, an independent production company during covid. In 2024 we launched our first documentary 'WHOMP' and also created an election campaign video for Councillor Yvonne Weldon AM, City of Sydney.

I’ve never regretted changing careers and bring a wealth of experience from my first 'life' in corporate Training and Development. My business acumen is deep and I regularly draw on capabilities such as economic and political analysis, project management, facilitation, marketing and advanced people skills.

I have a degree in International Business Relations and post graduate studies in International politics. My passport is filled with working visas from places like Chad, Djibouti, Philippines and the USA. Yep - a broad and adventurous life, rich with mind-changing, lived experiences in unconventional environments.
